Lake Forest Hires Irvine Nova AssistantEdit

Lake Forest, IL , September 15th, 2008

Lake Forest College Athletic Director Jackie Slaats announced on September 4, 2008, that Vadim Tashlitsky '00 will be the College's next head coach for men's and women's swimming & diving. He will begin later in the month.

Tashlitsky, a three-year letter winner and all-conference swimmer on the Foresters' 1997, 1998, and 1999 Midwest Conference championship teams, has been coaching at various levels over the past six years. He will come to Lake Forest from Irvine, California, where he is the assistant head coach and recruiting coordinator at Soka University of America, as well as the senior coach at Irvine Novaquatics, a nationally recognized U.S. Gold Medal Swim Club.

Prior to moving to Irvine in 2006, Tashlitsky worked for four years with the Barrington Swim Club in Barrington, Illinois. He served as an assistant high school coach throughout his time with the club, an assistant age group coach for four years, and as the head senior coach for the final two years.

Among the athletes he has coached are Senior National, U.S. Open, Junior National, High School All-American, Speedo Sectional Champion Series, Age Group State, Zone, and Mid-state qualifiers who combined to break more than 60 individual college, club, and high school records. Through his position at Irvine Novaquatics, he has also worked directly with several Senior National, Olympic Trial, and World Championship qualifiers.

“I am honored to return to Lake Forest College and guide the next generation of Forester swimmers and divers in their pursuit of academic and athletic excellence," began Tashlitsky. "It is my intention to continue the Athletic Department's tradition of excellence and I will put forth every effort to re-establish Lake Forest College swimming & diving as a premier program in the Midwest Conference.”

"I am very excited and proud to have a Lake Forest alumnus, especially one with such passion for his sport, join our staff," commented Slaats. "I am confident that Coach Tashlitsky, with the experience and knowledge he has gained since becoming a student-athlete here at the College, will be a perfect fit for our swimming & diving team and will lead the program to great success."
