  • Only 52 swimmers can be on the USA Olympic Swim Team

    • Average clubs size is 140 swimmers.
    • For every 10 athletes, there is one non-athlete member, such as coaches, officials, board members, parents and other individuals who do not swim.

Not too shabby - The number of individual gold medalists is what is most impressive when comparing the last three Olympics, 2008, 2004, 2000.

In 2004, Natalie Coughlin and Amanda Beard were the only United States (also known as USA) Flag of the United States female individual gold medalists.

In 2004, Michael Phelps, Gary Hall and Aaron Piersol were the only United States (also known as USA) Flag of the United States male individual gold medalists.

In 2008, Natalie Coughlin and Rebecca Soni were our only individual gold medalists.
