Targett (Hawthorn Victoria, Australia (also known as AUS) ) had three wins to help Auburn win the Southeastern Conference Championships. The senior won the 50 freestyle (18.52, NCAA "A" time, NCAA, SEC and meet records), the 100 butterfly (45.02, NCAA "A" time, pool and SEC records) and the 100 freestyle (41.55, NCAA "A" time, meet, SEC, and pool records). The Olympian also assisted on the winning 200 freestyle relay (1:15.47, NCAA "A" time and SEC records), the 200 medley relay (1:23.69, NCAA "A" time, SEC and pool records), the winning 400 medley relay (3:04.58, NCAA "A" time, pool and SEC records) and the winning 400 freestyle relay (2:46.03, NCAA "A" time, NCAA, pool, SEC, and US open records).
