Matt Grevers- Olympic Gold and Silver medalist, Matt defines a great versatile swimmer. As a member of the 2008 USA Olympic Swimming Team, Matt helped Americans set a World Record and bring home an Olympic Gold medal in the 4x100m Freestyle Relay. With a Silver medal hanging from his neck, Matt stood with great pride and honor on the Olympic podium after touching the wall in the 100m Backstroke. Improving every swim, Matt is a force to be reckoned with in any race he takes on. A Lake Forest High School and Northwestern University graduate Matt’s career achievements include, 2-Time Gold Medalist – 4x100m Freestyle and Medley Relay,2008 Olympic Silver Medalist – 100m Backstroke,2008 Grand Prix High Point Award Winner,2007 U.S. National Champion4-Time NCAA Champion, 2006 World Championship Silver Medalist, NCAA Record Holder, 27-Time All-American.

Swimming in his first major international competition, Matt Grevers made the most of the opportunity at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. He earned a silver medal behind teammate Aaron Peirsol in the 100m back, and also won gold medals swimming in the preliminary heats of the 4 x 100m free and 4 x 100m medley relays. In the free relay, he teamed with Nathan Adrian, Ben Wildman-Tobriner and Cullen Jones to break the world record, an amazing feat for a relay preliminary swim. The 23-year-old Grevers also performed well at the Olympic Trials in Omaha, finishing second in the 100m back and fifth in the 100m free.
Won gold as a member of the men's Games record-setting 400m FR-R team at 2007 WUGS, and took silver in the 400m Medley Relay ... swam the finals of five events at the 2005 WUGs, earning two silvers (100m back and 400m medley relay) and two bronze medals (50m back and 400m free relay) … captured his first NCAA title in the 100y back in ====2005====

Most Influential Person: Family … “Each of my family members inspires me in different ways. As a swim coach, my mom understands swimming from the teacher’s perspective as well as the family perspective. My dad and brother are always so proud of all my accomplishments. My sister was a Division I and Olympic Trials qualifier, so she’s experienced almost everything I’m about to experience and can offer advice, which helps.
Outside of my family, Lea Maurer has had a big influence on me. She showed me how to claim the feeling.
