Leslie Entwistle Named New Head Water Polo Coach for Ball Under Water Polo in Arlington, VA.[]

ARLINGTON, VA – Leslie Entwistle, the highly accomplished women’s water polo player and coach was named the new head water polo of Ball Under Water Polo, the only youth water polo club in Arlington, VA, by Club President Suzanne Dunn. Entwistle will join Ball Under beginning September 9, 2012.


“Today ends the first successful year of Ball Under Water Polo,” Dunn said. “But in September, we will start building a generation of water polo players when Head Coach Entwistle joins Assistant Head Coach John Preis, former MIT First Team All American, Assistant Coach Drew Zirkelbach, nominated to the all-conference team twice while playing goalie for Virginia Tech’s club water polo team, and Assistant Coach Jordan Loeb.”


Leslie Entwistle Collegiate Water Polo Association 2010 Hall of Fame inductee is among the premier women’s water polo players of her generation. She competed at Slippery Rock University from 1976-80 earning All-America honors following her sophomore, junior and senior seasons.

In 1978, she earned an invitation to try out for the first-ever Women’s National Team in Anaheim, California in 1978. She competed at the 1978 World Aquatic Games in West Berlin, Germany. She garnered two more selections to the National Team to compete at the first-ever 1979 World Cup in Fresno, California and the 1981 World Cup in Sydney, Australia.

Since then, Entwistle has devoted her time, energy and experience to coaching programs around the country at all age levels. Most recently, she coached the youth teams at the Naval Academy Aquatic Club and has earned multiple Top 8 awards at National Championships, Junior Olympics and Speedo Cup. In addition, many of her young players have continued playing after graduation and are on Division I varsity programs around the country.
