The University of Minnesota announced that men’s and women’s diving coach Jason Baumann has resigned his position for personal reasons. Volunteer diving coach Jim Zagaria will serve as the interim head coach as the athletics department conducts a national search to fill the vacancy.
Baumann completed his fourth year at the helm of the Gopher diving program in the 2008-09 season. He coached Shaun Kennedy, who won the platform title at the NCAA Zone C Championships and later finished 10th overall at the NCAA Championships to garner All-America honors. During his tenure, Baumann coached 13 Big Ten finalists as his divers score 39 times during the conference championships. His men’s team was the second-highest scoring squad at the 2008 U.S. Summer Nationals.
