  • The artwork needs to be replaced as these are now XPs.
  • XP/Exercises includes a series of experiences that span from lacing up one's sneakers with a digital pedometer to taking off shoes to perform and master yoga. Exercises come in all shapes and sizes and so do the XP/Exercises.

XP/Pull Your Own Weight[]

XP/Exercises begins with the best exercise of all time, according to Rick Osbourne, author and friend from Chicago, the pull-up. The concept is simple and everyone wants to do it, XP/Pull Your Own Weight.

Yoga[]

The students in the activity for Summer Dreamers called Mindful Eating get to learn yoga principles, words, positions, exercises and routines in 2015 with coach. See XP/Exercises/Yoga for more insights into the rubric of the tasks for students.

Running a Road Race[]

Liberty Mile

GNC Live Well Liberty Mile Race

The athletes participating in Summer Dreamers Swim & Water Polo got to participate in the Liberty Mile downtown and be rewarded the Liberty Mile XP upon completion. On the way to training for running or walking the liberty mile, students have the 100,000 steps mark to strive for on their weekly pedometers total, which nets them another experience.

Routines[]

The students are encouraged to engage athletics with goal setting and technology literacy in meaningful ways as part of the Play.CLOH.org. One concrete intersection for students explore is the creation of a fitness routine--using an exercise-routine building app to achieve a specific fitness goal and blogging or photographing the routine and/or results.

Steps[]

In training for the Liberty Mile Race, students will have an intermediate goal to aim for of 100,000 steps logged over a week with a pedometer or other device. For Summer Dreamers Swim & Water Polo, a device--the Milestone Pod--will be provided to track overall fitness progression. Whether training for a race or improving overall fitness, 100,000 steps in a week ensures enough moderate to vigorous physical activity for kids to ensure a healthy lifestyle.
