CoachUp connects athletes with qualified private sports coaches. Athletes can search for coaches by a variety of criteria, including location, sport, price or rating. The private coaches who list their services on the CoachUp platform take advantage of CoachUp’s digital marketing, scheduling, payment processing, client review gathering and individual profile pages to find new clients and manage their private coaching business.

The independent coaches listed on the CoachUp online marketplace are thoroughly vetted by CoachUp’s recruiting team, which reviews their backgrounds and qualifications. Each coach undergoes a National Criminal Background Check as well as a National Sex Offender Registry Check prior to coaching.^[1] CoachUp is free for coaches, who set their own session rates and lesson locations.^[2]

History and FoundingEdit

CoachUp was founded in 2011 by Jordan Fliegel, a former professional basketball player and longtime private coach, and Arian Radmand, an experienced sailing instructor and software engineer.^[3]

CoachUp, which officially launched on May 9, 2012, is headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts.^[4] Prior to its launch, CoachUp completed a seed round of funding; it's investors include, most notably, Mike Dornbrook, former COO of Harmonix Music Systems, Scott Heller of CoFlow Investing, and former Major League Baseball player Gabe Kapler.^[5]

Recognition and Partnerships Edit

In 2011, the Massachusetts Technology Leadership Council awarded CoachUp a Golden Ticket to become a member of the CriticalMass entrepreneur community.^[6] In March 2012, CoachUp's Jordan Fliegel took 1st Place at the Microsoft Ultra Light Startup pitch competition in Cambridge, MA.^[7] Shortly after its launch, CoachUp was selected as a finalist in the MassChallenge 2012 Accelerator Program.^[8]

CoachUp is the exclusive private coaching partner of the Positive Coaching Alliance.
