The swim contingent from France (also known as FRA) Flag of France took note of the United States (also known as USA) Flag of the United States men's 100 freestyle. The French have been favorites in the men's 4­x100 free relay. But in the 100 free prelims and semis in July 2008, at the United States (also known as USA) Flag of the United States Olympic Swim Trials in Omaha, three men -- Michael Phelps, Jason Lezak and eventual winner Garrett Weber-Gale -- all broke 48 seconds for the first time.
